The Real Madrid player Rodrygo has spoken out about the honor of wearing the renowned Brazil No. 10 jersey.
The child donned the jersey on Friday night when the Selecao played a friendly match against the Atlas Lions of Morocco.
Due to an injury to captain Neymar Jr., interim Brazil head coach Ramon Menezes decided to assign Rodrygo the number for this month's international camp.
Yet, despite the association with his teammate, Rodrygo values the number highly because of its previous association with Pele.
In the end of 2022, the former Samba Boys legend died away. Rodrygo was the first Brazilian international to wear No. 10 since his demise, and the significance was crucial to the 22-year-old.
Before leaving Santos to join Real Madrid in 2019, Rodrgyo also said that he chatted with Pele. The two had a common link as players for the same Brazilian powerhouse.
In Rodrygo's first start for Brazil after the team's 2022 World Cup exit, the team lost 2-1 on the road against Morocco, and new captain Casemiro celebrated his big night by scoring a consolation goal.
