Ben Chilwell, Marc Cucurella and two other Chelsea players have sent thank you messages to Graham Potter since he was sacked

Four Chelsea players are the only ones to thank Potter in Instagram messages since he was sacked as coach of the Blues.

Graham Potter has received words of gratitude from Ben Chilwell and Marc Cucurella, but few Chelsea players have openly shown their gratitude to the fired manager.

After less than seven months in command, Potter was let go on Sunday night. His last act was the disastrous 2-0 home loss to Aston Villa, which dropped the Blues to 11th place in the Premier League standings.

Other members of the team thanked Potter for his efforts, even if Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Denis Zakaria had little trouble "liking" the sacking news on Chelsea's Instagram account.

On Monday night, defender Chilwell was the first to thank the coach in a post on Instagram that included a photo of him embracing Potter and the words "Thank you gaffer" and a blue heart emoji.

Others slowly trickled in, including Cucurella, who was acquainted with Potter from Brighton. Cheers and best of success in the future, gaffer!, the Spaniard said with a photo of the duo conversing on the practice field.

Armando Broja, who has been out due to injury for the bulk of Potter's term, also posted a photo of the practice field on Instagram with the remark "thank you gaffer."

The player from PSV Eindhoven who joined Chelsea in January, Noni Madueke, was the most effusive in his praise of the departing coach.

Luis Enrique, Mauricio Pochettino, Roberto De Zerbi, and the recently ousted Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann are on the first shortlist for Chelsea's 'exhaustive' search for Potter's replacement.

With Chelsea playing Liverpool on Tuesday night, Bruno Saltor, who accompanied Potter from Brighton when he took manager last September, has been given interim leadership.

Upon his dismissal, Potter is expected to collect $13 million in compensation. Potter and his coaching staff were removed from Brighton by Chelsea for a Premier League-record £22 million.
