Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, is still confident about Luke Shaw's quick comeback from injury.
Alejandro Garnacho will play before the season is up, according to the manager, who also voiced the hope that Shaw will be cleared by the medical staff in time for the forthcoming Premier League match against Everton.
In Wednesday's 1-0 victory against Brentford, Shaw was forced to be replaced and Tyrell Malacia took his place after only 37 minutes on the field.
Since then, the England international has been under medical monitoring, and his development is being carefully watched.
The Red Devils' supporters will be happy to hear Ten Hag's most recent update on the defender's injury situation since they want to see him back in action as soon as possible.
‘You have to see over days how [Shaw] progresses,’ ten Hag told a press conference on Friday.
‘Sometimes you underestimate this injury, but I think Luke did quite well and knows his body. He went off at the right moment before getting more damage. So in this moment we are quite positive about him returning quickly.’
After a rough challenge from Kyle Walker-Peters against Southampton in March, Luke Shaw suffered an ankle injury. After the game, he was seen leaving the stadium on crutches.
Since making his debut with the Red Devils in October, Alejandro Garnacho has produced four goals and five assists, making him a vital replacement.
Erik ten Hag, the manager of United, is convinced that Garnacho will play a significant part in the future weeks, even if his return to action won't be hastened.
‘We have something in our heads, but I don’t want – he will definitely be back before the end of the season,’ ten Hag said.
‘I think he will be in the final stages, but I don’t want to bring so much pressure on the medical and Garnacho to set a date when to be back.’
