"How I distracted Solly March" - Man Utd striker reveals what he told Brighton winger before he missed his penalty

Manchester United secured their ticket for the FA Cup final after they defeated Brighton in a penalty shoot out. 

Victor Lindelof was the hero for United after he scored the decisive spot kick following Solly March's penalty miss earlier. 

Erik Ten Hag side will return to the Wembley Stadium for the second time this season but will have to face Manchester City in the final. 

Meanwhile Wout Weghorst has claimed that he spoke to Solly March before the England international missed his critical penalty shot in the FA Cup semi-final shoot-out against Erik Ten Hag's United.

After 120 minutes of scoreless play in the encounter on Sunday at Wembley, penalties were used to decide the outcome. In a tense standoff, the first 12 penalties were coolly converted.

Weghorst made his way back to the center circle after successfully placing his shot in the goal, picked up the ball, kissed it, and handed it to March after exchanging a few words.When March's shot missed David De Gea's net, Victor Lindelof pounced to score and advance United to the oldest club competition's championship game.

Weghorst said: "I already said to do it before we started, to some of our guys, but nobody did it," as he reflected on his conversation with March. 

"After converting my pen, I picked the ball, and attempted to get a couple of advantages to potentially help us win.

"I approached him and said a few things, but in the end, I went to him because I felt sorry—he was the one who missed."

Weghorst who was introduced into the game later on seems to have worked his trick into the head of Seagulls winger, March. 

Although he revealed that he spoke to Solly March after the game. 

Weghorst added:" I just tried everything, and usually, it doesn't make a difference, but maybe it did"

United will now switch their attention to their upcoming Premier league fixture in mid week. 

The Red Devils will face struggling Tottenham Hotspur this week. If you recall that Spurs were hammered 6-1 by Newcastle United on Sunday.

The Magpies have moved to third place in the league following the win against Tottenham who also want a spot in the fourth place. 

Manchester United will be desperate for win in order to reclaim the third place as well.
