Lionel Messi will decide to leave PSG at end of this season... RMC confirms

According to a report from RMC Sport published this afternoon, Lionel Messi will leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer when his contract expires unless the club's Qatari owners decide to give it their top priority to extend it.

The first deal he signed in 2021 contained an option for an extra season; while an agreement was made about an extension after the Argentine's World Cup victory, the relationship between the parties concerned has since deteriorated.

Tensions are said to have grown in recent months over the forward's performances and his entourage's demand for a bigger deal.

Although having a much better season in his second season at the club, with 13 goals and 13 assists in Ligue 1, Messi's apparent lack of dedication has also come under fire.

Given that PSG just negotiated a deal with UEFA after being smacked with a fine, getting rid of his pay would also relieve PSG's Financial Fair Play obligations.

Messi would only stay in Paris if QSI decided to concentrate only on achieving an extension, and even then, many would want to see him depart the club due to interest from both his previous club Barcelona and Inter Miami in the MLS.
