Luke Shaw thinks Manchester United's players did not provide enough against Sevilla based on their remarkable fitness levels in their victory over Brighton in the FA Cup semifinal.
At Wembley Stadium, Victor Lindelof scored an important penalty to advance Manchester United to the FA Cup final. After Solly March's penalty was blasted over the crossbar, the game would end in a 0-0 tie and be settled in a sudden death shootout, where Lindelof emerged as the victor.
Manchester United defeated Brighton & Hove Albion 7-6 on penalties on Sunday to go to the FA Cup final.
Despite the fact that there were no goals after 120 minutes of play, the Red Devils were second best for lengthy stretches of the game.
Victor Lindelof converted the game-winning penalty at a soggy Wembley, setting up a matchup between Manchester City and United in the June championship game.
While clearly happy with the victory, Luke Shaw made a suggestion that the player didn't give their all against Sevilla.
"I think I'd have rather been in the first half of the penalty takers," he said.
"It's never nice waiting and waiting, knowing your time is soon. I was confident anyways, if I had to step up, I thought I'd score, but luckily enough, Victor [Lindelof] put it away.
"He won it for us. We've practised them a lot in training and Victor has a beautiful technique. When he was stepping up, I was confident he wouldn't miss. I think so [fitness levels good] and maybe that shows on Thursday night we didn't do enough."
