Mauricio Pochettino wants to resume his duty as Chelsea's new manager next week rather than next season

Mauricio Pochettino wants to take over as Chelsea manager now rather than waiting until the summer, and he may succeed Frank Lampard before the season is up.
Following Julian Nagelsmann's resignation from the contest last week, the Argentine is the clear favorite to secure the position, with a final decision anticipated in the next few days.

For Tottenham supporters, who currently hold Pochettino in the highest regard after his five-year tenure as manager, during which he launched the team's first-ever genuine Premier League title challenge and guided them to the Champions League final for the first time, the move would be a real kick in the teeth.

Following the departure of Antonio Conte, Spurs, who fired interim manager Cristian Stellini on Monday, are also looking for a new manager. However, it is believed that Pochettino is not being considered by chairman Daniel Levy, who is instead considering moves for players like Nagelsmann, Luis Enrique, and Vincent Kompany.

Blues owner Todd Boehly contacted Pochettino in September after Thomas Tuchel left because of his record for developing young players, improving players, and playing beautiful football.

Following a £500 million purchasing binge, Chelsea's squad is in serious need of molding, and the club's upper management is sure that Pochettino has all the resources necessary to turn their fortunes around and create a title-winning team.

Pochettino spent the most of his playing career at Espanyol, where he was named manager in 2006 after hanging up his boots. He joined Southampton in 2013 before being snatched up by Tottenham the following year.

Despite taking the team to the Champions League final a few months earlier, he was fired in 2019 after a poor start to the season. Before being fired at the conclusion of the 2021/22 season, only a few days after winning Ligue 1, he joined PSG in January 2021 and won three major awards—the first of his managerial career.
