The Ogun state based club decided to join to celebrate the April fool's day on Saturday April 1st.
Taking to their official Twitter handle with a message announcing their decision to withdraw from participating in football activities in Nigeria.
Several fans of the club as well as followers on social media were left stunned.
The statement reads: "Remo Stars FC after careful consideration has decided to withdraw from participating further in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL and all things Nigerian football."
Few hours later, Remo stars confirmed that it was a joke as they confirmed their commitment to the development of football in Nigeria.
The tweet reads:" Happy April Fool’s Day People. Seems y’all trust us already with the replies we got under the tweet 😀😀
Remo Stars remain committed to the development of football in Nigeria and will continue to do so."
Meanwhile Remo Stars are currently in second position in their Group A in the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League season.
