An Inspector named Ahmed Twumasi has been detained by the Ghana Police Service on suspicion of killing his lover Victoria Daapa, also known as Maa Adwoa.
The 27-year-old mother of one was reportedly shot at close range by Twumasi, a married man with children, on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at Adum in front of Dufie Towers in Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti region.
The patient was transported urgently to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where doctors immediately declared her dead.
The suspect was apprehended in his hideaway at Sekyere near Effiduase in the Ashanti Region, according to a news statement issued by the police on Sunday evening, April 23, 2023.
The policeman reportedly believed Maa Adwoa had cheated on him, and despite her denials of the accusations, he became irate.
"The Police have this evening arrested a Police officer, Inspector Ahmed Twumasi, who is alleged to have shot and killed a female adult, who was believed to be his girlfriend,” the statement read.
“The shooting incident occurred in Kumasi, in the Ashanti region, on Thursday, 20th April 2023. The suspect, who has been on the run since the incident, was arrested at Sekyere, near Effiduase in the Ashanti Region as a result of a special Police operation, which was launched following the shooting incident. The suspect is currently in Police custody and will be put before court to face justice.”
According to a witness, the cop kissed Maa Adwoa first before fatally shooting her.
The police officer shot Maa Adwoa numerous times in the stomach and other areas of her body before she collapsed and died, according to Maa Adwoa's uncle, who was there at the scene.
