In Ondo State, a 56-year-old ex-boxer named Moses Olapade was taken into custody for reportedly bashing his wife Tinuke into a coma after she refused to give him the remote control for the television.
Reports state that the event took place inside their home, located at No. 9 Odama Street in Akure's Oke-Aro Community.
On the fatal day, Olopade, a truck driver who works in the country's north, was said to have come home after a trip and wanted to watch a television show.
According to reports, he begged his 44-year-old wife to give him the TV remote but she refused.
In a fit of rage, Olopade repeatedly punched the wife, causing her to collapse and lose consciousness.
After their kids fled crying for help, the wife had to be rescued by neighbors from her husband.
The lady was discovered unconscious on the floor when the neighbors stormed into the home to save her. They immediately transported her to the closest hospital.
Community leaders were informed of the situation, and when they phoned the police, the former boxer was taken into custody.
