Job Alawari-Kei, a student at the 300 level at the Department of Petroleum and Gas Engineering at Federal University, Otuoke (FUO), in Bayelsa State, is said to have collapsed and passed away after taking an overdose of the illegal narcotic known locally as Colarado or Colos.
Colorado, also known as synthetic cannabinoids, is a popular concoction of psychoactive chemicals that is taken by many Nigerians, mainly young people.
Some students on campus claim that youngsters, particularly those participating in the Internet fraud scheme known as Yahoo Yahoo, are the major users of the illegal substance known as Colos.
A student, who asked to remain anonymous, said that the dead teenager took an overdose of the illegal substance that killed him as he was celebrating with his buddies a recent success on an Internet trade.
Asinim Butswat, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), verified the occurrence when called and said that an investigation had been opened while the deceased's remains were deposited at the hospital for an autopsy.
