Christian Eriksen has said that while recuperating in the hospital the following day, he saw video of his on-field accident at Euro 2020.
In the first game of Denmark's match at the competition in June 2021, Eriksen had a heart collapse and unexpectedly passed out on the field, shocking the athletic world.
The Dane was swiftly taken to the hospital as supporters across the world prayed for his recovery as his heartbroken teammates encircled him to block cameras from capturing their afflicted comrade.
Eriksen made a complete recovery and was implanted with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) device, which has not only enabled him to continue living but also to continue playing football, thanks to the quick action of Denmark's medical personnel and the life-saving procedure he received in the hospital.
Just 24 hours later, in the hospital, the Manchester United midfielder saw his fall against Finland.
After regaining full health, Eriksen departed Inter Milan and signed a dramatic comeback to the sport with Brentford in January of last year due to Italian football rules prohibiting players from using ICD devices.
Less than two years after leaving Tottenham, the former Spurs star was given an emotional welcome return to English football. He went on to make 11 appearances for Thomas Frank's team as they finished in 13th position.
His strong play in the second part of the previous campaign led to a summer transfer to United, where he has made 39 appearances under Erik ten Hag.
Eriksen is scheduled to play for United in the FA Cup final against vengeful rivals Manchester City next month, almost two years after his horrifying breakdown.
