Despite rumors that Mikel Arteta wants the Portuguese full-back to join with Arsenal, Arsenal has a positive connection with Joao Cancelo's agency.
The Telegraph has also identified Cancelo as a summer transfer target for the Gunners. Last week, 90Min claimed that Arteta believes that Cancelo would be ideal for Arsenal.
Fabrizio Romano said on the House of Champions Podcast that Arsenal already has a good working connection with the player's agent, giving the Gunners an advantage in this competition.
“On Cancelo what I think happened is that Arsenal have a good relationship with his agents, so with the conversations they are having, Cancelo is one of the names they discussed. It’s not clear what will happen with Cancelo yet. Tuchel said that they have to speak at the end of the season. The conversation between Bayern and Man City will be crucial,” Romano said.
Even if Arsenal has a good relationship with Cancelo's representatives, completing this transaction will be challenging.
The Gunners may be able to reach an agreement with the player, but reaching an agreement with Manchester City may prove to be quite challenging.
Arsenal's strength will not be rushed by City. With Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus, they made that error last summer, which almost cost them the championship this year.
