Real Madrid defeated Osasuna in the Copa del Rey championship game with a decisive 2-1 win.
The Brazilian scored twice as Los Blancos defeated the Pamplona-based team 2-1 to claim their first Kings Cup victory since 2014 and 20th overall.
Following a wonderful play from fellow Brazilian Vinicius Junior, who bamboozled his way through a tree of Osasuna legs before putting him up on a plate, Rodrygo scored the first goal for Carlo Ancelotti's men after only 109 seconds.
Osasuna would tie the score in the 58th minute thanks to a goal from Lucas Torro, but Rodrygo will have the ultimate say as Real Madrid hung on to win the Copa del Rey final thanks to his game-winning goal with 20 minutes remaining.
Real Madrid will now focus on the Champions League when they visit Manchester City on May 9 at the Bernabeu for the opening leg of their semifinal matches
Following the game, Barcelona congratulated their bitter rivals on Twitter, "Congrats to @realmadrid, the Copa del Rey Champions!" which elicited a variety of responses from football fans across the world.
Every move and gesture made by the two teams, who are among the most prosperous and competitive in Spanish football, is examined and dissected.
See reactions below....
@Bri_an2: Don’t worry they’ll be congratulating us when we win La Liga next week
@GabrielRamehh: Strategy… Congratulating them so they are morally obligated to congratulate Barça Laliga title
