Lionel Messi, a striker for Paris Saint-Germain, has expressed regret for his 'unauthorised' travel to Saudi Arabia, which resulted in the French club suspending him.
After Sunday's 3-1 home loss to Lorient in Ligue 1, Messi acknowledged in a video apology that he "thought he had the day off" and that he is now "waiting to hear" from the team on his future.

Shared by sport journalist Fabrizio Romano, Messi  said: "First of all, I want to apologise to my team-mates and the club. Honestly, I thought we were going to have a day off after the game like we did in previous weeks." 
Following his suspension, Messi's decision to leave PSG at the conclusion of the current campaign was made public on Wednesday. 

The Argentine international future with PSG is yet to be decided with report suffering Messi could leave at the end of the season. 

Messi is contract with PSG will expire at the end of current season and he seems to be heading back to Barcelona. 

It's been gathered that PSG have decided that the 35-year-old has reportedly been fined two weeks' pay and banned for two games.

He added in his statement, ""I had this trip organised, which I had cancelled already. I could not cancel it again. I repeat, I want to say sorry for what I did. I am waiting to hear what the club want to do with me."
