Following their win against Coventry City in the Championship Play-Off Final at Wembley on Saturday, Luton Town has been promoted to the Premier League.

After 23 minutes, Jordan Clark sprinted into the box to give Luton the lead, and Rob Edwards' team led going into halftime.

Gustavo Hamer scored a strong low shot from the outside of the box to tie the game at 1-1 for Coventry after 66 minutes of play.

The game went into overtime since there were no further goals scored in the remaining 90 minutes. Luton believed they had won the game at the conclusion of the extra 30 minutes when substitute Joe Taylor beat Ben Wilson, but VAR disallowed his goal for handball.

As a result, the game proceeded to penalties. The first 11 attempts all connected, but Coventry's Fankaty Dabo sent his attempt sailing over the crossbar, promoting Luton to the Premier League.

With 80 points—10 more than Coventry—Luton placed third in the Championship. The Kenilworth Road team, who last played in the top division in 1991–1992, is now the 51st club to compete in the Premier League.
