The Superclásico saw SEVEN red cards when River Plate scored an injury-time penalty

Six players were sent out in extra time, three from each club, when a massive fight broke immediately after a late and ultimately crucial River penalty put them up 1-0 over Boca.

The sides had to be separated by stewards and riot police, and when things eventually calmed down, the referee dismissed three players from each club along with Boca coach Jorge Almiron.

Miguel Borja's penalty shot at the Estadio Monumental gave River, under the direction of Martin Demichelis, a win that they were able to hold onto.

In the 93rd minute, Borja maintained composure under very stressful conditions by sending former Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero the wrong way. It looks that Romero's reaction may have contributed to the start of the incident.
83,000 fans crowded the stadium, and the majority of Borja's teammates surrounded him as if it had been the game-winning goal in the World Cup final.

The Boca players rallied to Romero's defense when the goalie claimed Agustin Palavecino provoked him. Romero then tried to move Palavecino out of the way.

Some of Borja's colleagues were preoccupied with the fight with the Boca team as the celebrations on the field went on, and it quickly included practically everyone on both teams.
