Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was full of praise for Jorginho after his performance for Gunners.
The Arsenal keep their Premier League title hope alive after their 2-0 win over Newcastle United.
The Gunners kept a clean sheet against Eddie Howe resilient Magpies at the at James Park.
Martin Odegaard’s brilliant strike from the edge of the box gave Arsenal the lead after 14 minutes.
Then Fabian Schar scored an own goal after Gabriel Martinelli's cross deflected from his leg.
Arteta decided to stick with Jorginho who had a great game against Chelsea last mid week.
The 31-year-old midfielder showed his experience as he control the game for Arsenal without giving away unnecessary free-kicks in dangerous areas.
Speaking after the game, Arteta said he picked Jorginho ahead of Partey because he didn't want to challenge Newcastle United for physicality.
He told Sky Sports: “He was exceptional, he was man of the match, there were question marks because it was going to be really physical.
“If you want to go physicality against physicality, you have no chance to win the game so we had to try something different."
The Spaniard added that the former Chelsea star understood that game and helped Arsenal dominate possession.
If you recall that Jorginho signed for Arsenal this January transfer window for £10m.
Arteta added: “He understood the game really well, he's a really intelligent player. He gives a lot of security to the team and dominated the game in many moments.”
