Four players have been identified for release by Manchester City according to the retained list they sent to the Premier League.

Ilkay Gundogan, the captain, was selected despite receiving new terms from City.

The list also includes Terrell Agyemang, Rowan McDonald, and Benjamin Mendy.

The Premier League has received the official list, and they emphasize that a player's status can have changed after the list was filed.

Despite Pep Guardiola's desire to retain the midfielder, Gundogan has been extensively linked with a move this summer.

Arsenal is interested in the Treble-winning captain and is willing to give him a longer contract than City.

Gundogan was originally given a one-year contract by the Citizens, but they later upgraded it by adding a second year.

However, it has been said that Barcelona has prevailed over both teams, with the 32-year-old being given a three-year contract by the LaLiga giants.

The midfielder is a favorite of Guardiola, who made him his first City acquisition when he joined the team in 2016.
