Davido, a Nigerian artist, has recognised Wizkid and himself as pioneers of mainstream music in the nation.

David Adeleke, however, said that he and Wizkid had paved the way for musicians that are now conquering the globe, like Burna Boy, Rema, Fireboy, Mayorkun, and Asake.

In the viral video, Davido was heard mentioning Burnaboy by name and placing him in the same category as more recent performers like Rema and Fireboy.

Davido's comment has drawn criticism from numerous Burnaboy supporters, who have also called him out.
