According to reportminds.com, French defender Wesley Fofana needs to undergo surgery to repair a damaged anterior cruciate ligament.
The youngster, 22, defender was injured in his knee and was unable to go alongside the rest of his teammates on their preseason tour of the United States.
Fofana, who reportedly had a scan to diagnose the issue, and the findings are disastrous for the center-back.
The last seasons' injury issues for Fofana have been the worst possible luck. Fofana shattered his leg in during summer of 2021 while participating in a friendly match for his previous team Leicester City versus Villarreal. He was sidelined for more than seven months.
The French international came back to the Foxes in March 2022, where he spent the rest of the season before agreeing to an £80 million transfer to Chelsea just months later. Fofana, however, had further misfortune during his debut campaign at Stamford Bridge.
In October, he had a knee injury that kept him out of action for more than two months. Four days after he returned to training, he experienced a recurrence issue, which kept him out for an additional 55 days.
However, this current setback implies he could miss a significant portion of the 2023–2024 season.
