34 years old Jonny Evans signs short term deal with Man United as free transfer

Jonny Evans signed to a temporary deal with Manchester United which will enable him to participate in the team's preseason games.


The former United youth product from Northern Ireland that was acquired by the Red Devils eight seasons ago under Louis van Gaal has pleased manager Erik ten Hag during preseason training with the team.

After Evans' contract with Leicester, which was demoted to the Championship, ended, he is presently an unemployed free agent.

While he looks for a new team, the seasoned defender is going to practice and compete with United.

Prior departing in 2015 to join West Brom, the defender underwent the Red Devils academy. Evans spent a three-year with the Baggies before transferring to Leicester, where he helped the Foxes win the FA Cup and finish sixth in consecutive seasons.

Over the course of eight seasons, Evans, 35, played 198 times for the Red Devils' first squad and scored seven goals. During his tenure at Old Trafford, he participated in the team that won 11 trophies and earned three Premier League championship medals.
