Nigeria's Super Falcons, who defeated Australia 3-2, are now only one victory away from making Women's World Cup history. With a victory against Ireland in the last group match, the African team would earn seven points in the group stage for the first time ever. They are currently leading group B with four points after two games.
Asisat Oshoala, who scored the goal that ultimately separated Australia from Nigeria, told the media after the victory that she would make sure to battle for her teammates and the badge, referring to Africa as the finest country in the world.
"I want to make sure I fight for my teammates, fight for this badge. This is the best county in the world," she said.
