With one year remaining on his contract with Spanish LaLiga team Villarreal, winger Samuel Chukwueze of the Nigerian national team's future is in question.
His present contract expires next summer, and because there have been no discussions about extending it, it is thought that both he and the club are open to his leaving this year since they both want to avoid losing him for nothing the next summer.
The 24-year-old returned to Villarreal yesterday for the start of preseason training and completed a regular physical together with the club's new recruits and some of his former colleagues. Despite rumors about his future, he has not yet made a decision on his future.
The winger is most likely to be signed by AC Milan since personal terms have already been agreed upon. The transaction has been slowed down by Villarreal's demands, who are seeking a price of almost €30 million.
Villarreal demanded €10m more than AC Milan's first bid, but the Italian club is now anticipated to make a revised offer that many anticipate would come close to Villarreal's demands.
