Reece James, a standout for Chelsea, said to Mason Mount after his transfer to Manchester United was official that he would "always be blue at heart."

In a £55 million transfer, the 24-year-old left Stamford Bridge for Old Trafford, where he signed a five-year agreement.

Having joined the club's academy in 2005 at the age of six, Mount had an 18-year relationship with the west Londoners until it came to an end.

James, a close buddy, also rose through the ranks with him, and the two later won the Champions League together in 2021 while playing regularly for England.

James also raved over the former Derby loan player in an emotional Instagram post, when he shared a photo of the two together after a youth match in the 2011–12 campaign.

A few years later, a different picture of the pair competing for the ball in practice.

In the 2019–20 season, Mount and James made their first-team Chelsea debuts under the guidance of Frank Lampard, the team's then-manager.

Sharing the photos on his social media space, he captioned: "Ma brother man. Where do I start. I’ve know you since 6 years old, we grew together and took similar paths in breaking into the first team. Something that seemed virtually impossible. I’m proud to say I done it along side you. I’ve seen you as a little boy and watched you grow into the man and player you are today, you’ve done yourself and your family proud. We’ve had some of the best days of our career together that’ll stick with me forever. It’s sad to say goodbye. I wish you nothing but happiness, good health and the best of luck on your new adventure! You’ll always be blue at heart! "
