Following the dismissal of Christophe Galtier, whose departure was officially announced on Wednesday morning, the French champions have given the Spaniard a two-year contract to take over at Parc des Princes.
The 53-year-old's most recent club position was with Barcelona, when he won the 2015 Triple Crown.
Galtier, 56, now takes over for the former Roma and Celta Viga manager despite having led PSG to the Ligue 1 championship the previous year.
Galtier was fired with one year left on the PSG contract he signed after being hired in July 2022.
However, following the World Cup, PSG's record under Galtier deteriorated, with 10 losses in 28 games.
In the round of 16, Bayern Munich eliminated them from the Champions League, and in the same round of the French Cup, they lost to rivals Marseille.
