Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea is acquired by Real Madrid on a season-long loan after Thibaut Courtois sustains a season-ending ACL injury.

Kepa joined Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2018 from Athletic Club, quickly making himself the first choice.

During the 2018–19 season, which saw Chelsea win the Europa League championship, he made 54 appearances.

The Spaniard continued to play for the Blues for 109 more times over the next four seasons, contributing to our victories in the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA World Club Cup.

Kepa was given the leadership for the first time in the previous season and reestablished himself in the Spain team.

His previous club Chelsea wishes him well for the next season in Madrid, where he will work with Carlo Ancelotti, a former Chelsea head coach.

He will be introduced as a Real Madrid player tomorrow afternoon.

It follows Thibaut Courtois' anterior cruciate ligament injury, which might keep him out of action until the conclusion of the current season.

Los Blancos are lacking in goalkeepers due to the injury to their starting goalie, leaving just 24-year-old backup Andriy Lunin as a viable alternative, therefore Kepa is expected to join the club right away.

Kepa was absent from Chelsea's opening-day tie with Liverpool, starting in place of the Blues' new acquisition Robert Sanchez.
