Manchester City: Favorites to Win the 2023-2024 Premier League
Peter Day Atanley
Manchester City are still the favorites to win the 2023-2024 Premier League title without a doubt. And that is not just because they have won the league three times in a row and have a squad that is capable of challenging for the title again, not just domestically but also in the champions league next season.
With the late dramatic end of last season that saw arsenal dropping points in their last Three games to the advantage of Manchester city, it is only fair to assume that Manchester City are the worthy champions of the league. But with that said it is only fair to ask if they can leave up to the form that saw them clinched their very first champions league.
City have a strong attack led by the relentless Erling Haaland who scored 36 goals in his first premier league season and 52 in all competitions across Europe. Haaland is one of the most exciting young strikers in the world and he will be looking to add to his goal tally next season. He will be supported by Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, and Bernardo Silva.
City also boast of a strong midfield. Kevin De Bruyne is one of the best midfielders in the world and he will be looking to continue his excellent form next season but without the strong formidable partnership he had enjoyed through the years with İlkay Gündoğan who has since left the club for a new adventure in la liga with Barcelona. They have brought in Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea into the midfield.
City's defense is also solid. Ruben Dias is one of the best defenders in the world and he will be looking to lead City to another title. He will be supported by the likes of John Stones, Manual Akanji, Aymeric Laporte, Nathan Ake, Joao Cancelo and Kyle Walker. They are also looking to add Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig to boost the defective line up.
With these current players City have a good chance of winning the Premier League next season. They have a strong squad and they are managed by one of the best managers in the world, Pep Guardiola.
Other Teams That Could Challenge Manchester City for the 2023/2024 Title
There are a few other teams that could challenge for the Premier League title next season.
Liverpool: Even though last season was far below expectation from the team performance, Liverpool are always a threat to win the Premier League coming into each season especially after winning it in the 2019-2020 season. Hopefully, they could still repeat that feat next season with a strong attack led by Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and the promising Cody Gakpo. They have also brought in Alexis Mac Alister and Dominik Szoboszlai to strengthen the squad in place of Jack Milner and Roberto Firmino who depart Anfield at the end of the season.
Arsenal: Knowing for the fact that they almost got the title last season is a clear indication that Arsenal are still one of the top teams in the premier League. They have signed new players in the person of Kai Havertz and Alessio Russo to strengthen the squad in the coming season. These player's (with others still to come) will only compliment the likes of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus who all will be looking to repeat the form that almost brought them glory last season.
Chelsea: Last season was a huge nightmare for Chelsea. The worst in the post Roman Abrahamhovic era. They finished below mid table, went through three coaches, brought in record signings in the January window and were equally plagued with injuries and lack of form. The end of the season has already seen the departure of key players like N'golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic, Loftus Cheeks, Mason Mount, Havertz, Koulibaly, Azpilicueta and Mendy. Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech could join the exodus in the coming weeks. With the arrival of their new coach, Mauricio Pochettino, they could boast of being back into contention for the title come next season. This could be as a result of new players such as Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson and others on the radar that will be wearing the blue jersey. Chelsea are a team that is always in contention for the title and it will be interesting to see how the new team outlook will fare in the coming season.
Manchester United: Manchester United on the other hand had a bit of a rollercoaster season Last season. They Lost a couple of key matches but notwithstanding they were able to secure top four which is a position they should be glad to be in. Erik ten Hag has really stamped his way of playing in the team and will be looking to improve the attacking part of the squad. They have signed Mason Mount from Chelsea and David De Gea has departed Old Trafford. According to various report online, Andre Onana is in line to be the next shot stopper at Old Trafford if everything goes according to plan.
Newcastle united: Being among the top four teams last season and heading into the champions league is certainly not a small feat for the Magpies. They were a delight to watch with brilliant performances on each matchday. Their head coach, Eddie Howe has created a formidable side since joining the club in 2021 and will be looking to cement that position in the coming season and become a regular top four counteder.
