
Reece James has been named the new club captain of Chelsea for the 2023–24 season.

Following the departure of Cesar Azpilicueta, who has joined Atlético Madrid as a free agent, Reece James will assume the armband.
The 24-year-old joined the Chelsea Academy when he was six years old, and since then, Reece has developed into one of the club's most sought-after talents.
As the Chelsea Under-18s' two-time FA Youth Cup champion, Reece James claimed his second trophy in the tournament in 2018.
The English international played 46 times for Wigan Athletic while on loan there in the Championship.
Frank Lampard included Reece into the Chelsea first team before to the 2019–20 season.
Reece James only made 24 appearances last season due to injuries, but under Mauricio Pochettino, he has played often this preseason.
