Rivers United Names Evans Ogenyi as New Head Coach

Rivers United, a prominent team in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), has welcomed Evans Ogenyi as their newly appointed head coach.

Following the departure of Fatai Osho after the previous season, Ogenyi assumed the role, bringing his extensive experience from coaching Warri Wolves and Kano Pillars. Notably, he successfully guided Kano Pillars from the Nigeria National League (NNL) to the NPFL. Ogenyi's appointment has been met with excitement, as he eagerly embraces the opportunity to lead the Pride of Rivers.

Ogenyi expressed his excitement on the decision, stating, "After speaking with Coach Stanley Eguma, it was a really easy decision to join the coaching set-up here. It’s an exciting time to become part of this great team, and I’m looking forward to working with everyone more closely on and off the pitch."

In addition to the coaching change, the club has introduced some significant signings to fortify their squad. The latest additions include Deputy Echeta, John Uche, Ebedebiri Endurance, and Yao Kouassi Bernard. These acquisitions are set to enhance the team's depth and skill.

Having displayed their dominance in the NPL regular season, clinching the top position in Group B with an impressive 34 points from 18 matches, Rivers United's playoff performance was somewhat less remarkable. They secured third place with nine points from five matches.

As the NPFL season draws nearer, the spotlight turns toward Rivers United, awaiting the influence of their new head coach and signings on the team's performance.
