Andre Onana accepts full responsibility after giving up a goal from 40 yards against Lens in his debut at Old Trafford
In a match against RC Lens during the preseason, Andre Onana gave up a goal from 40 yards.

Onana's afternoon was filled with good and bad luck. The 27-year-old, who played out from the back on multiple occasions throughout preseason, seemed at ease while completing 45 passes with a total completion rate of 87 percent.

However when Lens attacker Florian Sotoca took advantage of some aggressive positioning, all that hard effort was overshadowed.
Sotoca gave Lens the lead in the 23rd minute using brilliantly timed chip after receiving the ball from a clumsy Diogo Dalot pass.

Onana made an impression during United's preseason tour of America, particularly during his first competitive appearance versus Real Madrid, where he frequently displayed his precise delivery and poise.
However, the ex Cameroon international has drawn criticism for his contribution to Lens' Saturday afternoon opener.

In his post-game interview, Onana accepted responsibility for the goal they gave up to the Ligue 1 team, saying he would "take all the criticism and pressure" for any goal they gave up.

“I’m happy for the win. Of course we can always be better," he told MUTV. "Some things we have to try to fix. Like I always say, I am responsible for everything especially when we concede goals.

“I’m the big man at the back so I take all the criticism, all the pressure on me. It was a great game for me and for the guys, some important goals and I’m happy for everything.”
