Kai Havertz received a harsh judgment from an Arsenal icon after his lackluster performance against Manchester United
During the summer transfer window, Arsenal completed a £65 million deal to capture Kai Havertz from Chelsea. However, things have not gone easily for the Germany international so far.
Since joining Arsenal this summer for £65 million, Kai Havertz has had difficulty. Under Mikel Arteta, the Germany international is struggling to master a new position and style of play and is obviously lacking in confidence.
On Sunday, the 24-year-old squandered a great opportunity to put Arsenal ahead of Manchester United before giving the ball away in the buildup to Marcus Rashford's goal for Erik ten Hag's team.
In his first four Premier League outings for Arsenal, Havertz has drawn criticism; yet, Arteta is still standing by the player after his high-profile transfer from Stamford Bridge.
Havertz has to adapt his personality, according to Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit, if he wants to become a star for the team.
Speaking to BettingSites.co.uk, Petit said: "Football is crazy now and a club that spends £70million on a player may not even be playing him anymore, and they could sell him.
"I wasn’t surprised that Chelsea wanted to sell him [Havertz]. Arsenal need to be patient but I'm pretty sure he will be a hit with Arsenal.
"He was struggling at the start of the season and against Crystal Palace, he was lost at times on the pitch and wasn't sure of his movements. I still believe that with the way he plays up front, he needs to improve his understanding with his new teammates.
"I believe he must improve his personality and character because he has quality. He was suffering over what happened with Chelsea last season but he was the best goalscorer for Chelsea last season. He has to fight against his own personality and character."
