Chelsea injury update: Benoit Badiashile set to return from injury as Mauricio Pochettino prepares for a trip to Bournemouth

Benoit Badiashile is anticipated to be fit for selection by Chelsea for their Premier League encounter against Bournemouth after the break for international play

Due to a severe hamstring injury, the 22-year-old defender has not played since May 13.

However, he is now moving closer to returning to full health, which will be a big win for Mauricio Pochettino. After joining the Blues from AS Monaco in the January transfer window, Badiashile particularly excelled for the team in the second half of the previous season.

The Frenchman is now anticipated to be available for selection when the Blues travel to the south coast on September 17 as they look to rebound from a really poor showing and result at home to Nottingham Forest.

The Frenchman scored his only goal for Chelsea thus far away at Bournemouth last season. Having Badiashile as an option will undoubtedly be beneficial, but it's unclear what Pochettino has in store for the young French defender this season.

Axel Disasi, Thiago Silva, and Levi Colwill have been Pochettino's three center backs in his back four so far this season, with Colwill playing left back. Some fans, though, are hopeful the Argentine head coach returns to using a 4-2-3-1 shape as soon as possible since he did so throughout the preseason.

As some of Chelsea's injured players start to return, the news is undoubtedly encouraging for Pochettino and the team. Also not too far away, Armando Broja will be training diligently at Cobham over the next two weeks with Badiashile to try to get himself prepared for the journey to the south coast.
