Gary Neville criticizes Havertz for'making a complete Shambles' of a fantastic opportunity for Arsenal vs Man Utd

Kai Havertz has come under fire from Gary Neville for blowing a 'huge moment' in his Arsenal career by failing to convert a straightforward opportunity during the Gunners' match against Man United.

Havertz was given what seemed to be a clear opportunity on goal from within the United manager with the score at 0-0 in the first half.

After joining the Emirates for £65 million, the former Chelsea player has already drawn criticism from supporters who are unclear of his best position. A goal on Sunday would have improved his rapport with the home supporters.

But it was not to be as Havertz missed the ball and saw it leave the box unharmed.

Neville was unreserved in his evaluation of the opportunity, as he said during the game's broadcast by Sky Sports: 'It’s a bit of a mess, [Anthony] Martial in trying to do the right thing gets in the way of [Diogo] Dalot who tries to clear it.'

Marcus Rashford scored the first goal for United after 27 minutes, despite Arsenal dominating the first half. Rashford calmly tucked the ball home.

Within 35 seconds, Mikel Arteta's team had gotten back on equal footing thanks to Martin Odegaard's goal off of a beautiful cross from Gabriel Martinelli.

When Havertz seemed to have earned a penalty, the referee Anthony Taylor reversed his judgement after reviewing his monitor.

Neville added: 'Havertz, well, questions have been asked of him already very early in his Arsenal career but that was a great chance. He has a swing at it and makes a right mess.

'That could have been a big moment for Kai Havertz, connecting with this crowd.'

But Arsenal went ahead to claim 3-1 win over Manchester United after Declan Rice and Gabriel Jesus scored in stoppage time for the Gunners.
