Arsenal vs Man City:

Mikel Arteta has explained the reason for his substitution of Gabriel Martinelli into the game against Manchester City.

Arsenal vs Man City:

The Gunners defeated Manchester City at the Emirates stadium on Sunday evening in their Premier League clash.

Gabriel Martinelli who was introduced in the second half scored the only goal of the game in the 87th minute.

The 22-year-old Brazilian just returned from injury which he suffered against Everton last month.

Martinelli was included in the match day squad on Sunday after he recovered in time.

Mikel Arteta revealed that it was a gamble to substitute Martinelli for Trossard who got injured.

The Arsenal boss said that the physio weren't confident about Martinelli playing but Arteta added that the player wanted to play.

Mikel Arteta on Gabriel Martinelli:

"Another player with big ones too. The physios weren't having it and he said 'I am ready to go'.

Meanwhile Arteta hinted that Learndo Trossard who started the game was subbed due to an injury.

Although the nature of the 28-year-old injury is yet to be confirmed.

Arteta added, "Leo [Trossard] got injured and I looked to him and he was already ready to go."
