"I don't like '80% of English referees" - Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi fumes at VAR after draw vs Sheffield

Brighton head coach, Roberto De Zerbi, openly expressed his discontent with the majority of Premier League referees, citing his dissatisfaction following a 1-1 draw against Sheffield United.
It was gathered that Brighton initially took the lead with Simon Adingra's impressive solo goal in the sixth minute, but the tide turned after Mahmoud Dahoud received a red card in the 69th minute.

Meanwhile Dahoud's foul, a stamp on Ben Osborn's Achilles, led to an own goal by Adam Webster, lifting the Blades off the bottom of the table for the first time since September 23.

Acknowledging the validity of John Brooks' decision to issue the red card, De Zerbi, who himself received a booking for his touchline actions, maintained his critical stance on the overall performance of Premier League referees.

Additionally, he took the opportunity to question the effectiveness of VAR in English football.

He said, "I am honest and clear… I don’t like 80% of English referees. That isn’t a new opinion. I don’t like them. I don’t like their behaviour on the pitch.

“England is the only country where, when there is VAR, you are not sure that the decision is right. In other countries, you have to be sure 100% that the decision taken is right. In England, no, and I am not able to understand.”
