Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino publicly apologized to referee Anthony Taylor for his animated behavior during the intense 4-4 draw against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.

It was reported that Pochettino had to be restrained by his staff at the final whistle as he sought out Taylor, vehemently expressing his disagreement with the official.

The thrilling encounter unfolded on Sunday, captivating fans as Chelsea and Manchester City battled to a 4-4 draw in the Premier League. Pochettino's emotional response came to a head when he stormed onto the pitch after the match's conclusion, confronting referee Anthony Taylor. The manager asserted that the final whistle was blown during an attack, denying Raheem Sterling the opportunity for a potential last-minute winning goal.

As a consequence of his actions, Pochettino received a booking. Furthermore, the Chelsea manager neglected to shake hands with his counterpart, Pep Guardiola, in the aftermath of what many considered one of the season's standout matches. Pochettino's frustration was evident as he felt his team had been denied a fair chance for victory.

In reflection, Pochettino acknowledged the intensity of the situation, expressing regret for his actions and providing an explanation for his emotional outburst on the pitch.

“I need to apologise to Anthony, the referees and the fourth official. In this moment, I feel that maybe Raheem can go through and go to score the fifth and in this moment when the game finishes I turn and say: ‘what the ….?’ You know, what’s going on. I said: ‘why stop in this moment, the action.’

The match concluded with a dramatic injury-time equalizer from Cole Palmer, adding another layer to an already captivating fixture.

He added, “Then I turned and said “I deserve, I deserve to be booked.’ Because I crossed the limit, so I want to apologise because it’s not a good image for me and for football, this type of behaviour. I also want to apologise to Pep also because I did not see him in this moment.”
