The Security operatives apprehended Mr. James Onoja, the council chairman of Igalamela Local Government Area in Kogi State, on Saturday, November 11.
At the time of his arrest, he was found in possession of a substantial amount of cash and ammunition, neatly packed in multiple 'Ghana-must-go' bags.
It is purported that the seized money and ammunition were intended for deployment during an election.
A widely circulated video on the internet captures the scene of Mr. Onoja's arrest. In the footage, he is observed donned in a white Caftan, seated on the ground alongside other suspects in close proximity to an army checkpoint.
The incident has raised concerns about the alleged misuse of funds and the potential implications for the electoral process in the region.
