Super Eagles' Disappointing Performance Continues in Rwanda Encounter
In their second fixture of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, the Nigerian national football team, the Super Eagles, faced a 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe, failing to meet the high expectations set for them.
The Super Eagles, having previously secured a draw in their match in Kigali, Rwanda, showcased a lackluster performance, resulting in their second consecutive draw in the qualifiers against Zimbabwe, ending with a 1-1 scoreline.
The match witnessed Zimbabwe taking the lead in the 26th minute when a free kick eluded Nigeria's goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho. Walter Musona's right-footed shot from a 30-yard free kick found the back of the net, putting Zimbabwe in the lead.
However, in the second half, Nigeria's fortunes shifted as substitute Kelechi Iheanacho, the forward from Leicester City, managed to secure an equalizer. With a left-footed shot from the center of the box to the goal's center, Iheanacho salvaged a point for Nigeria.
Having garnered only two points from two games, Nigeria previously drew 1-1 against Lesotho in Uyo, continuing their unconvincing start to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
