Barcelona's talented goalkeeper, Marc André ter-Stegen, is slated to undergo a minor surgical procedure to address a persistent back injury that has plagued him in recent weeks.

The German shot-stopper took to his social media platforms to share that, after consultations with specialists and medical experts, the decision has been made for him to undergo surgery.

Ter Stegen expressed his commitment to the recovery process, stating on Twitter, "After intensive conversations with the medical team of the Club and various supporting experts, we decided to undergo a surgical procedure. The break obviously annoys me. It is the right and safe decision in order to come back in the best conditions for my Club @FCBarcelona and National Team @DFB_Team."

Unfortunately, this means Ter Stegen will be unavailable for Barcelona for the remainder of 2023, with his return expected in 2024.

During his absence, Iñaki Peña will step in as the backup option. Notably, Peña demonstrated his capabilities by keeping a clean sheet in Barcelona's recent 1-0 victory over Atlético Madrid over the weekend..
