Chelsea's Manager, Mauricio Pochettino, announced on Tuesday that Christopher Nkunku will not be featuring in the upcoming Premier League clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
In a press conference held on Tuesday afternoon, Pochettino confirmed that the 24-year-old French striker is not yet ready to join the team on the field. Emphasizing the need for caution, Pochettino mentioned that playing Nkunku, who is not match-fit, requires careful consideration.
Pochettino stated, "Christopher Nkunku will not be involved tomorrow. We have to be careful... I hope he’ll be back with us soon, but not tomorrow."
Nkunku has been sidelined due to a knee injury sustained during Chelsea's pre-season tour in the USA.
Christopher Nkunku, who joined from RB Leipzig, had an impressive run in the pre-season but has been out of action for the last four months due to the injury.
Despite the absence of Nkunku, Chelsea aims to continue their positive momentum after a 3-1 victory over Brighton Hove Albion during the weekend.
The West London side managed to secure the win, even with Conor Gallagher being sent off in the first half. Goals from Enzo Fernandez and Levi Colwill sealed the victory for Chelsea in a resilient performance.
