Victor Osimhen Receives Prestigious Marc-Vivien Foé Award in Cote d'Ivoire
Nigerian Super Eagles and Napoli's iconic striker, Victor Osimhen, has ignited excitement among Nigerians and social media users following the presentation of his African Best Ligue 1 player award.
The 25-year-old football sensation was bestowed with this honor during an event in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire, marking the culmination of a four-year anticipation.
In 2020, Osimhen, then with French Ligue 1 powerhouse Lille, couldn't accept the award due to the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the much-awaited moment finally arrived as he proudly received the accolade in Cote d'Ivoire this past Saturday.
Capturing the significant moment, Nigerian photojournalist Pooja shared a snapshot of Victor Osimhen's award presentation on Twitter, expressing the culmination of a four-year journey: "After 4 years, the Marc-Vivien Foé Award for the best African player in Ligue 1 was finally presented to Victor Osimhen in Cote d'Ivoire."
Oshimen is currently leading the Nigeria squad at the 2023 AFCON in Côte D'Ivoire. The Napoli forward who is the claimed the 2023 CAF Awards, has scored a goal and 1 assist in the ongoing competition.
