The 40-year-old, once an iconic figure in Brazilian football, was found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman in the restroom of an upscale Barcelona nightclub on December 31, 2022.
Legal Outcome and Imprisonment
The verdict, delivered on Thursday, has led to Alves' imprisonment as he begins a four-year sentence. The former Brazil international, who is a father of two, had been in custody at Brians 2 Prison near Barcelona since his arrest in January of the preceding year.
