Luton Town Captain Tom Lockyer Shares Experience of Heart Attack During EPL Match

English Premier League footballer Tom Lockyer recently revealed a significant development in his health journey by showcasing a defibrillator implanted in his chest following a harrowing cardiac arrest incident during a match.

Lockyer, aged 29, endured a terrifying collapse while participating in a Premier League encounter against Bournemouth on December 16 last year. Since then, the defender has been sidelined from action for Luton Town as he continues his recovery from the cardiac episode.

Reports indicate that the Welsh international is steadily recuperating and has undergone a procedure to have an ICD (implantable cardioverter defibrillator) installed. This device, discreetly positioned beneath Lockyer's skin, serves as a proactive measure, primed to intervene should Lockyer face another cardiac emergency on or off the field.

In a startling revelation, it was disclosed that Lockyer had previously experienced a cardiac arrest seven months prior, during the play-off final at Wembley, a pivotal match that saw Luton secure promotion to the Premier League.
