Joao Cancelo, the Portuguese footballer currently on loan at Barcelona from Manchester City, has reportedly unleashed a scathing tirade against his parent club and manager Pep Guardiola, accusing Guardiola of deception.

Cancelo, who spent the latter half of the previous season at Bayern Munich, has been at the center of controversy regarding his response to being excluded from City's starting lineup during their successful Treble-winning campaign.

In an interview with Portuguese publication A Bola, the 29-year-old vehemently refuted Guardiola's purported dissatisfaction with his conduct, labeling the assertions as falsehoods.

"I've never been a negative influence in the team, as claimed! Both Ake and Rico can attest to that. I harbor no feelings of superiority or inferiority towards my teammates; however, the manager's assertions are unfounded," declared Cancelo.

Rejecting allegations of ingratitude leveled against him by Man City, Cancelo asserted his pivotal role in the team during his tenure, emphasizing his unwavering commitment and sacrifices made for the club and its supporters.

Referring to a past incident where he was a victim of robbery and subsequent assault, Cancelo recounted his swift return to the pitch, underscoring his dedication despite personal adversities. He expressed dismay at the disproportionate influence wielded by Guardiola, lamenting the overshadowing of his own perspective.

While acknowledging his impending return to Manchester City, Cancelo hinted at a likely departure from the club, indicating unresolved tensions.

Despite the turmoil, Cancelo conveyed well wishes for Manchester City's future endeavors while standing by his decision to seek temporary refuge at Barcelona in January 2023, despite missing out on City's triumphant campaign.
