Former Super Eagles midfielder, John Obi Mikel, has expressed his belief that Manchester City and Arsenal are strong contenders to advance to the final of the Champions League this year.
Mikel referenced Manchester City's triumphant moment last season when they clinched their maiden UEFA Champions League title by defeating Inter Milan in the final. Pep Guardiola's side achieved a remarkable treble season by also securing the Premier League and the FA Cup.
Despite Mikel Arteta's Arsenal leading the Premier League standings for over 100 days, they ultimately surrendered the title to Manchester City.
During his appearance as a guest at the quarter-final draw on Friday, Obi Mikel participated in selecting the balls, marking the conclusion of the draw under the current format.
In the latest draw, Arsenal was drawn to face Bayern Munich, while Manchester City will clash with Real Madrid in the quarter-finals.
Ahead of the draw, when asked about his predictions for the final, Mikel emphasized the significance of the final being hosted in Wembley, England, expressing his desire for an English club to reach the pinnacle. He further stated his hope for either Manchester City or Arsenal to secure a spot in the final showdown.
