The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has given its consent for the bail of Bobrisky, a well-known Nigerian crossdresser. However, Bobrisky has yet to meet the set conditions for his release.
EFCC's Stipulations for Bail and Passport Confiscation
Bobrisky's bail approval has been confirmed by sources within the EFCC, although he has not yet satisfied the requirements for his bail. The specifics of these conditions remain undisclosed, but there is speculation that surrendering his international passport to the authorities could be one of the requirements.
The Context of Bobrisky's Apprehension
Bobrisky was taken into custody on Wednesday, April 3, following his actions at an event in Lagos state on March 24 where he was seen dispersing money, a deed deemed illegal.
Accusations of Naira Misuse Against Bobrisky
Bobrisky's arrest by the EFCC was due to their allegation of a crime involving the misuse and abuse of the Nigerian currency, the Naira, during a movie premiere. EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, confirmed this. "He is currently being held by us. We apprehended him due to currency mutilation and abuse of the Naira. He is housed in our Lagos state facility," stated Oyewale.
