In a recent interview on skit maker Isbae U’s podcast, Nigerian singer Tobechukwu Okoh, popularly known as Peruzzi, shed light on a peculiar aspect of his collaboration with his former boss, Davido.
Payment in Kind: Used Clothes for Songwriting
Isbae U didn't mince words, asking Peruzzi directly about rumors that Davido compensated him with previously worn clothing for his songwriting contributions.
Peruzzi, with a knowing grin, confirmed the speculation, revealing that indeed, there was a time when he received clothes as payment. However, he was quick to clarify that this practice is no longer in effect.
Evolution of Compensation
Acknowledging the past, Peruzzi admitted to accepting clothing as compensation for his work, but emphasized a pivotal moment when he received monetary payment instead, prompting him to cease the exchange of clothes for his songwriting services.
He stated, “I swear I am not going to lie, I used to collect clothes before. But there was a particular one I wrote and he gave me some money so I stopped but I used to, before.”
