Manchester United has officially announced the appointment of their former player, Ruud van Nistelrooy, as an assistant manager to Erik ten Hag.


Van Nistelrooy, who played for Manchester United from 2001 to 2006, made 219 appearances and scored 150 goals for the club.

Before joining Manchester United's coaching staff, Van Nistelrooy had a notable tenure as the head coach of PSV Eindhoven. 

The retired footballer had decided to join Erik Ten Hag in the dug out for Manchester united heading into the new season. 

Recall that the Red Devils finished in 8th place last season but Erik Ten Hag lifted a silverware defeating Manchester City in final of FA Cup.
