Burna Boy Claims No Nigerian Politician Has Ever Given Him Gifts or Favors

Burna Boy, the popular Nigerian artist whose real name is Damini Ogulu, has publicly claimed that no politician in Nigeria has ever given him gifts or favors.

In 2021, Nyesom Wike, then-Governor of Rivers State, declared that he would bestow upon Burna Boy a plot of land and cash as a gesture of appreciation for his Grammy Award win. This pledge followed a celebratory homecoming event organized by the Rivers State government in honor of Burna Boy's success with his album "Twice as Tall," which earned the award for Best Global Music Album.

However, on Thursday afternoon, Burna Boy addressed this promise on his X handle, insinuating that Wike did not deliver on his commitment. In his post, Burna Boy questioned the authenticity of the promises made, stating: “No politician has ever given anything. Go ask Wike where the land him give me or which money him give me. You think I’m your faves.”
